Goodbye 2008. Also: Top 10 of 2008

December 22nd, 2008 § 1 Comment

The year is over, and it’s definitely been an eventful one: lots of ups and downs. I am just relieved that finals are over!

Packing for a week in Louisiana visiting the fam. The weather there has been pretty nutty lately: snowstorms, record lows followed by record highs, raining frogs, etc. Not exactly sure what to pack! Looking forward to some gumbo and fried catfish, and rough-housing with my nephews.

Here’s my annual top 10 album list, followed by a mix of selected mp3s from said albums. Hope you enjoy them as much as I did this year!

See ya in ’09!

  1. Fleet Foxes – Fleet Foxes
  2. Chairlift    -   Does You Inspire You
  3. Mount Eerie – Dawn
  4. She & Him – Volume 1
  5. Beach House – Devotion
  6. Jolie Holland – The Living & The Dead
  7. Rachael Yamagata – Elephants/Teeth Sinking Into Heart
  8. Santogold – Santogold
  9. Thee Oh Sees – The Master’s Bedroom Is Worth Spending The Night In
  10. Cat Power – Dark End Of The Street

Hello 2008, Christmas in Louisiana

Happy New Year to all! Hope everyone had a pleasant holiday. I am still reeling from all the hush puppies I ate in Louisiana. A few highlights: holding my niece Ava for the first time, teaching Mason how to use his RC helicopter, the Shaw Center in Baton Rouge, dancing with all my college buddies at Star 80, shopping in the French Quarter, catfish poboys, my mother’s crawfish elegante over penne pasta, the LSU Rural Life Museum, and setting off some killer ordinance in our backyard on New Year’s.

Please enjoy the following images. Full sets here and here (black & whites).

OMG SPARKLERZ

Looks like 2008 is going to be a good one! I’ve accepted a position at a large web consulting firm that is Boston-based, but has opened an office in San Francisco. I start the day before Mardi Gras, actually!

Where Am I?
